Compact fluorescent lightbulbs have come a long way since first introduced in the 1980s. Compact fluorescents need a few minutes to reach full power after they are turned on, but once warmed up the light they emit is now similar to the warm glow of incandescents. While compact fluorescent bulbs are designed to screw into standard sockets, the fit depends upon the size and configuration of your fixture and shade. Therefore, note the size of each lightbulb and be sure to select ones that will work with your light fixtures.
